So we landed at 1:45 and decided to call the captain to see if we can get a quick trip in. Sure!! Not a problem. Get to the boat about 3ish and run to the tuna grounds. 4 lines in the water and start chumming. One blackfin Tuna few mins later followed by some Mahi Mahi. What a beautiful fish in person. Then all of a sudden one of the rods slams down and as soon as my friends father in law starts reeling in a sailfish breaks the water. What a beautiful fish!! In about 2 hours of fishing we ended with a dozen blackfin tuna and 2 Mahi. Not a bad start to the weekend. BTW bringing in a tuna on a Penn Battalion II was loads of fun. When my parents were alive I would visit them in south Fla every year and Dad and I would often target Mahi and small tuna on the local charter boats. No question that a live Mahi when it is flashing those colors is one of the most magnificent creatures in the sea. Also, they are a first-rate table fish. I hope you got a chance to taste one fresh.

Today we had to work for our keepers. Ran out to some wreaks for snapper, grouper and whatever else wanted to play. Started off grabbing some Pilchard for bait and then ran to the grounds. Just like porgy fishing as soon as bait hit the bottom. Wham you're on! Had cero mackerel, grey snapper, lane snapper, and mutton snapper and red grouper. Also had a nurse shark take the bait. After a battle finally got it up to surface for a quick photo and release. Also had some Goliath grouper but needed to be released.

Ran out for a 4 hour trip this morning before catching our afternoon flight. First reef we hit the yellowtail were nice size but you had to contend with some predators and youd lose the whole fish. Went to a different reef that was shallower and had to pick through shorts to find some keepers. At the first drop my friends father hooks up to something big. Ends up being a black grouper!! Caught with a stradic 4000 reel and a size 2 hook!! 😲

If so another fabulous table fish!
