More bass

Had non-fishing plans that fell apart at the last minute. I sailed solo today looking for bass as I had the morning to myself. Started right at grey light and popped a fish on the first cast. Cool, let's do that again, they are sitting tight to that structure. I look up to move the boat and see diamond jigs flying from every direction. Where do they come from????? Ugh! So I make a short run and found another large pod of fish. Popped a bunch and again look up and see more than a dozen boats heading my way at warp speed. What to do? Stay and fight with the googins? Nope, let's leave fish and hopefully find more. Take a much longer run and find them. Thank goodness there were less birds and they were hanging low and out of sight. Had a great sand eel bite for a long time before the fleet found me. You know it's time to leave when you smell coffee and realize you got a guy 20 feet off your stern. Who does that?? Mind you, I looked away for just enough time to land a fish and he was there. Then listening to the roar of 1,2,3 engines tearing up the water. Guys, the water is only 18 feet deep. Time to go!

Anyway, I had my fill. Close to 40 fish, most over slot, but was able to add a slot to the box.

Great report and trip, Kevin. Although it is always a bit less enjoyable when the amateurs are breathing down your neck constantly. Remind me some day to tell you the story of a Tog trip long ago when this guy pulls up to me close enough to spit in my cockpit and then drops his anchor. I was there a good hour before he showed up, but I'm in his way!???

When our anchor lines finally tangled on the change of tide, he actually had the nerve to threaten to cut my rode!!! You know the old expression, "You can't fix stupid"!!!

BTW, is that one of my favorite slow pitch jigs hanging out of the Stripers mouth? Sure looks like it.

Maybe 😎

A bit lighter than your jigs. Boy did they slam it! Yet other offerings were simple taps. Wild.
