We left yesterday New Rochelle at 9:30 and due to stiff north winds we set up just outside Davids Island in about 25 feet and dropped or Jigs Steve has been fishing this area for over 40 years and he can always find a place to hide. Well from the first drop at 10 am until 4 pm we caught . . . We did our best to keep count and we totalled 150 blackfish. They bit through all fazes of every tide. We ended up with a limit and a 21 incher I released.

We totalled approx 32 tog between 15-16 inches that had to go back, the rest was evenly divided of fish from 8 inches up.

. Between cranking up all of those fish and cutting all of crabs I'm aching from had to toe this morning, but I'd I would again in a heartbeat!

Awesome!

Not enough young guys getting into fishing.

Especially on the commercial side where young captains have to pay through the ear for any kind of permits

I did that with my sons friends and they're now in their early 30s and still fishing together. No coincidence they all turned out to be good kids. It's the one constant I've seen throughout my decades of being around this sport.

But get ready for missing tackle, a few dings and an empty tank after they use the boat. But if that's the worst thing you have to deal with you are way ahead than most!

Enjoy these times my friend and do it as often as you can. It goes by fast!

We went out for a few hours after morning service. Stayed out maybe 5 hours and had a lot of shorts and no keepers. The intermittent wind against tide kept swinging the boat around.
It was nice out and we still had fun.

I love when a Tog has that golden mark on their sides.

You mean like this one, Loonzter?
I agree it is a beautiful coloration.

I had my first boat in Hudson Park in New Rochelle. I fished Davidโ€™s Island many times. I started using jigs for tog that I got from John Knightโ€™s B&T (Tidal Tails). Not sure if true or not , but John claims to be the inventor of jigs for blackfishing. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Anyway, nice report and good luck the rest of the toggie season
