Aside from short fluke, I really haven't caught anything from my town's ocean beach this season, or seen any others have any success as yet. Mind you I just fish daytime and no longer drive anywhere else. Yesterday, with a strong NW wind over my shoulder, I used my 9' Lami with a simple Penn Slammer 360 to launch some lures. No weed, no birds and no visible bait. After 30 minutes of nothing, I moved west 100 yds and instantly had a hit and brought in something halfway to the beach. That was on a yellow 6" Mag Darter with a bucktail teaser.
Disappointed, I recast and then had a quick hit on the same rig but no hookup. A few minutes later I had what I realized was another bluefish, fought it halfway in and retrieved my lure sans teaser. The teaser-less dropper loop was shredded. Without the teaser, I had no other hits until I switched to a teaser-less rig but with a "well endowed" (I add my own bucktail) bucktailed Kastmaster. Never landed a fish yesterday but had fun. Going to give it a go again today, even though I will be hitting low tide again, and again with the northerly wind I should be able to go with a 9.
Bluefish I guess

What happened to the bunker this year ? not many pods out of Jones and probably the same along the South Shore.

Are the bass and blues on the surface or down deep ? I have 5 or 6 umbrella rigs ready to do battle.Mostly near bottom, you can see them on the electronics. But when they push up, bait and fish break water. And the birds will guide you.
