I got 10 inches, and for the first time in 40 years, my pool overflowed. In addition, a few houses in my neighborhood took a lot of water in a place I didn't know was possible! I didn't realize it rained that hard, and I was shocked to see all of the water when walking the dog this morning.

What happened to all the carp, trout and turtles?? I saw a snapper in there with a shell as big as a garbage can.

There was a ton of wildlife there. The fish are probably dead and hopefully the turtle will move on. Really sad. I can't imoage the loss for those homeowners in that special spot.

Snoozeday made it sound like only invasive carp were netted. No largemouth, crappie or pickeral ? My local lake was ruined by Sandy in 2012. Never really recovered.

But I ask again, why so much effort to save an invasive species that has been known to wreck innumerable bass and walleye fisheries and isn't exactly tasty? If I were younger I would have been interested in helping people flooded out but to save carp ?

I can't find a direct statement from the DEC, but a few sources are stating this position.

What I'm wondering is where are all the ecos that want to bust you for having a fish that's a half-inch short or forgetting your SW registry receipt to stop the well-intentioned from spreading invasive species?

Job security in invasives maybe?

Well.......if they're transporting them elsewhere, I'm not sure face down in a 5 gallon bucket is going to work. Just sayin

Did they "save" a single non-invasive species ? Did they ruin another pond by putting the destructive carp they did "save" into it ?

I do not know the answer to your question. Wish I did

Hopefully they'll rebuild the pond and stock it with local species.

maybe they can salvage some of the native species from the pond that they just dumped the destructive carp in! I don't know if the retired DEC guy is on this website, but he might know if the act of doing that with an invasive species is a criminal act. Idiots.
