Headed out with Frank P and Friend Mitch got the lines in the water around 6am. Fished east of the second Wantagh bridge and throughout amityville channel lots of rain bait in the water. So my first fish was fat 19 1/4” fluke the was a keeper two days ago, so back he went that was painful. Picked away at shorts and managed some nice keepers. I had a really nice fish on and at boat side he had my top 1/2 oz bucktail way down and as Mitch went with the net one could head shake and he cut through my leader, second heartbreak of the day. The dolphins made a quick appearance boat side but couldn’t get the phone fast enough. Mitch hooked what he assumed was bottom but after a good battle turned out to be what I think was a cow nose Ray. Called it a day was back at the dock around 12.30.

I'm amazed at how that fishery has held up this year. Sounds like you had one of those great days. That 1/4" had to really hurt. It's amazing how that reg, snuck under the radar.

Nice job Vinnie! I was out Friday, and the boat had a side scanner. One of the channels we were working you can see clear as day all the rays lined up on the bottom. Definitely a cow nose you got there. One of the guys ended up hooking one.
