Sitka AK

Got to fish AK for the first time. Always been a dream of mine. My daughter is fortunate enough to land a 4 week job there for the 2nd year in a row. Arrived Saturday and had a boat chartered on Sunday. Landed our limit of king salmon (Chinook) within a few short hours. The tide shut down the bite for a short while, probably would have limited out more quickly had we caught the tide. We attempted going out in the ocean for Halibut but 12' seas put a damper on that. Captain managed to find a fishable spot that was still a legal spot. Unfortunately the halibut did not cooperate but my daughter landed a large ling cod which we were able to keep. I landed a big yellow eye which we had to return. Ended the day more inshore for some pelagics and called it a day at 2:30. I highly recommend to anyone to try to get to Sitka at least once. They have an awesome set up there. The processors meet you at the air terminal at 5am with your fish professionally packed and ready for shipping. Alaskan Airlines accepts the boxes as baggage and for a rather small baggage fee your fish will arrive at destination. I had a 3 hour layover in SEA and when I arrived home the fish were were rock solid. Plenty to do and see in Sitka for 2 -3 days. Anything longer than that is not necessary unless you want to fish more.

Nice job!! I've been talking about going for years now. My friend just got back from Tanaku and he had a great time.
