How to? Select single in line hook

Ok all you sharpies! I'm watching these you tube videos about guys catching Fluke with hard jerkbaits. Here the thing, Treble hooks can be a real PitA! and I don't feel like getting hooked myself.

So my question to you all is

What size do you use as a replacement or is there a rule of thumb in replacing the trebles with the single inline hook.

I have a 3 in jerkbait, a 4 1/2 in jerkbait and 6 inch jerkbait

What are your suggestions for replacement hooks?

I honestly have no idea. The guy you want to talk to about this is Roger/Buddha162. Or look on his YouTube channel “Catch and Cook.”

I would not be able to help you on the make etc of an inline hook replacement. But I can tell that you need to be careful changing hooks on plugs, especially swimmers. They were designed and engineered to run with a specific hook size and weight. I learned many years ago that changing a hook's profile and/or weight completely changed the action on a plug. And went fishless until I figured that out.

I was able to find something!

Excellent point about changing the swim dynamics of a plug when changing the hooks - Honestly didn't even think of it!

Here is the general rule when replacing your treble hooks with inline single hooks:
The Inline single hook gap should be equal to or as close to the gap between any two points of the treble hook

But longcast's mention of matching the weight of a treble with a single hook is equally important.

Run the plug with the old and new hook. And what might seem obvious...............................in the daylight.

I learned the hard way, LOL. 🙂
