It will take just a bit longer for the east end waters to come up to temperature, but having finished cleaning and repairing all my tackle I am now starting to tie Bass bucktails for the coming season.

Mild weather this week means I can also begin cleanup on all the cushions I took home from the boat last fall. Then by the last week of this month the shrink comes off and it's a solid month of prep time in the marina getting ready.

Can't wait!!

Ugh...I'm so antsy. Been prepping for any saltwater fishing. Been to the shows, tied some bucktails, created a few new teasers and other lures. Watching all those you tube videos has me wanting to try some new techniques....

Ugh - I can't wait!

Spent many cold January & February days standing at the Rail on the Viking or the Marlin catching cod.

The "extinct winter flounder" makes an appearance? Congratulations to the angler.
Sadly, I gave up trying for them over a decade ago. 😢

still got the window sash weights and a chumpot. sinkers dipped in yellow paint. those long shanked hooks in #8. I always carried two anchors for bridling but I think I last tried for them in 99 or 00 when my last boat was new.

No doubt it was work, chumming, pounding the bottom with a pole working the rods. But at end of the day it was worth it.

I tied my sash weights to the same line with the chum pot, just a foot lower down. Only had to work it if bridled, otherwise the current did the work for me.

Good for the flats. Most of my spots were deeper depending on the temperature

I almost have the itch to actually try for them one day.If I get a warm enough day before I start chasing bass around I will pick some bank mussels and grab some worms and set up on some old spots.

Stopped in the bait shop to check on my reel repair, picked up some Shad’s for my rig to get ready for trolling. Was told the bay and channel have bass already here. Come April 15 th
