A friend if mine was fishing Kensico late last week and as usual, they caught real good. They had a bunch of nice small mouth and a laker that they kept. Upon opening the trout they found this

Wow that is crazy that's a lot of rubber in one fish.

Keeping that fish was the right thing to do...

I wonder if the filet had a bit of a "rubbery" texture to it!🤣

Either someone carelessly discarded used baits or is lousy at hooking anything

So, I have to ask, as I do not know the answer....

All the plastic worms sold at shows....Are they digestable by fish.

There are so many: Z Mans, Plugbait, All American Stink, Fishbites, Hogy Sand eels and even sponge strips soaked in Gulp juice.

Do the manufacturers make any claims as to digestibility?

Quick review of the manufacturers websites of Z Mans and Fishbites say nothing of digestibility. Plastic is plastic. I still think the lake trout above saw a discarded something that looked and tasted yummy and sucked it up off the bottom. I have used the same Gulp curly tail for three trips and a dozen fish, only spraying it or soaking it with the juice while paddling back for another drift Other times the Gulp curly tail falls off in the yak or net. The one thing I do notice that except for snappers and bluefish, I rarely lose more than the tail, which probably do end up forever in a fish's gut. I have to remember to make sure I no longer throw a ripped apart one overboard.

How big was that lake trout - it didn't/couldn't pass those plastics over the years?

Yeah, thanks George for the picture. I've seen a few big lakers there...that's a slim one.
Nice weight but I think it was not doing well trying to gain pounds.

Disturbing -either a great fighting fish or a bottom feeder lol.

I have seen videos of gulp baits passing but not the other brands. I too will never discard overboard again.

George yes pristine, surely the synthetic worm is breaking down into the fish’s flesh… mentally it wouldn’t be pleasant for me…

That's a nice fish. Skinny or not it would make a nice meal or two. Ok so first it was No lead. Next it may be No plastic. Maybe we will all be right back using the old cedar plugs !! 🙂 Not a bad thought in my opinion, they caught. .
