Herring?

Havent seen any reports of them being around

I keep checking North Shore docks and harbors haven;t seen any herring action. Am I too late this year.

West? Middle? East?

Ive checked from Centerport to Mt. Sinai no scales on the docks. No pickled herring for new year

Gotta protect all the baitfish. We see what happened when they protected bunker. I remember NJ in the early 90's had a deal between local commercial boats and foreign boats, they scooped up huge amounts of mackerel/sold it foreigners and we haven't had a spring mackerel season ever since. Whiting /Mackerel were way more numerous in the early 90's and all disappeared around the same time with the Winter Flounder?
