Slow start ending in mayhem.

Fished Saturday with my usual crew plus 2 additional friends. Headed SW to fish some bottom (intel from a trusted source), I haven't fished since Loran was king, I'm dating myself now. Slow start and just picky throughout the day. We ended up with a keeper for each guy amongst some shorts. We just never really got them going. On the way out we passed clouds of birds within 2 miles of the inlet. I was confident they would still be in the area on our way back. Sure enough they were only a mile west of their morning location. Motored around a bit until I could read them good and it was game on. 3 short drifts produced about 25 bass and a bunch of gigantic fall blues. We hit out limit of slot fish and headed for the barn. The amount of life was amazing. We had bass and blues rolling on top, 85-90" tuna jumping out of the water 50 yards from the boat and 2 whales pop up to see what we were up to! All in all it was a successful day with great friends and that's what it's all about.

Couple weeks a go my brother in law was out chasing bass - until one of those tanks grabbed a popper and took off. Spooled, probably need new drag washers etc. Those fish started exploding around the boat. They were amazed and thankful to be in the right spot to witness such a melee.

Bass and blues pushing all kinds of bait. Tuna jumping on blues. Hope to see it again next year.

Panga, didn't see any Bunker that day but the sand eels being spit out on the deck were the biggest I've ever seen here on Long Island!
