Have heard a few times recently that Van Staal is bringing out a brand-new sized "VR25" spinner to market. That puts it right in the 2500-3000 size class. Just something to keep in the back of your mind if you are looking for a high-end spinner that should be way tougher than the other reels in the "very high-cost" class.
More info as I hear it.

My friend Kevin/Longcast did some digging and came up with this. It's from Hadrell's Point Tackle, a South Carolina fishing shop's FB page:

Pretty little things. Probably in the $700-range. I wonder what the weight will be? Should be sub-10oz to match up with rods designed for that size reel.

I used the 250 down in Key West.. not a bad reel. But I don't need one for what I do.

"Need?" Who said anything about needing it? LOL!
Other than the surf guys, for most other users of this type of reel it's really more a vanity thing than anything else. Or maybe they just like nice things.
I say, if someone can pay the fare, why the heck not? Same with cars. Does a suburban housewife REALLY need that $95K Escalade to go to Stop & Shop once a week? Of course not, but so what? If they come by their money legitimately, its all good by me. I AM an American Capitalist, after all.
And anyways, like I said, those reels are mighty purty! 😁

Wouldn't work for me at any price. I'm a leftie and prefer my spinners to be cranked with my right hand.
Also, I prefer a slower retrieve for my bottom fishing (fluke/tog) reels.
