they actually came in handy for me several years (who am I kidding - several decades) ago...................
I had a grub infestation in my front lawn. Lots of the grass was dying. So before I put the grub killer down I raked up all of the dead grass. A "swarm" (I'm not kidding you - there were hundreds of 'em) swooped down & began feasting on the exposed grubs. They were cutting them in half & flying off with the bodies.
It was pretty amazing to watch.
Naturally I wasn't going to get in the middle of that. So I waited until it was over & then applied the grub killer.

A different article stated that they want meat and insects for the larvae all summer, but once late summer hits and the queen begins her hibernation, they switch to sugar (nectar, fruit, daiquiri's...) before dying off.i had a taste of that switch to sugar yesterday, peeling a Orange ? and those bees ? swooped down in seconds, wow… had to gobble that orange down very quickly… cellie…
