Spent most of the day on my favorite south side drops where we have enjoyed very good success both this season and over a multi-year span. Once again, the action was extremely fast paced with over 50 Fluke boated for the 4-man crew including a couple dozen Sea Bass. The only problem was the keeper ratio was similar to last Saturday’s trip with only 20% of those fish caught meeting the legal-size range.
So, for a very strong effort on the part of all anglers aboard, our final tally in the box today was 8 keeper Fluke to 5# plus 7 keeper Sea Bass to 3.5#. Still with all the action, beautiful weather, and good friends it was a very enjoyable day to be on the ocean. Of note, Chef Nader was high hook with his 4 fish limit and the top fish of the day!
A bunch of local trips are on my schedule for the next week until next Friday 8/11 when we will take another crack at the Montauk ocean Fluke scene. I still have some open dates in August for anyone wanting to join us for one of these long-range adventures.
