Fair Fluking

Went out Saturday 7/15 , fished for about 20 minutes a little West of the Jones Beach piers starting about 9:30AM. Nothing . It was outgoing tide , I figured I'd drift down to the Meadowbrook and then I'd motor over to Jones Inlet where I had success the previous week. I motored over to the inlet and tried there. It was a fair pick with a nice 19 inch keeper I released. The shorts were very small. I read in another magazine the best time to fish the inlet for fluke was the last 3 hours of incoming tide. I had action all day with 1 keeper, shorts, sea robins, 1 small dogfish ( Cape Shark ). Inlet was very bumpy with all the boat traffic, SE wind caused whitecaps in the inlet. Used spearing and squid , high low teaser rig . 2nd weekend in a row I went out Saturday , all the boats you can figure where the fish are biting. Last summer fluking at the Meadowbrook was so much better.
