Back at it at Field 6 at JB. Strong north wind, but pretty flat considering. a Beautiful perfect fish catching morning - OR NOT!

What I want to know is where are you all catching fish, - asking rhetorically - I have not seen anything being caught by me. All the reports say there are fish. I threw my bag, I tried every retrieve. I swear there is nothing there.

This can get frustrating after a while

From what I am hearing, the south shore surf fish are EAST of RM. I just kayak fish backbay when the weather and water warms up like this and guys I trust say its not been good yet there either. Going to give it a go tomorrow morning but even with no keepers its great exercise on what sounds like a beautiful morning. Ya know ya can't go by the guys with the ocean-going boats or the guys driving out to Montauk.

what ? not any dogfish..?… me think its always better nearer to the inlets at this time of year… i’m not a fan of north wind and flat calm , me like any southerly, wit 1-3 choppy and a mild current enough to hold 4 oz., pyramid… big moons suck…

try for some beach fluke, not everything is B&B, i’m goin to Rockaway tomorrow cellfish…

Ya wanna know….
We always headed out to peconic in may for big fluke but that don’t work no longer but I will never miss out on the real fluke 3rd week of July out of Montauk.

Everything else is a crap shoot.

I understand the new BS name that the party boats use is "Cape Shark", almost as bad as "New Shell" for soft shelled, "shedder" lobsters...

This is the I wanna know thread, right? I haven't a clue how they picked that euphemism...

It's slow inside Jones Inlet . Went out 5 hours on Friday , drifted all the usual fluke spots and not a single bite. No dogfish, sea robins. You wonder ? I'm going to Peconic this week and next week I'll go to Captree and launch my boat there and fish the Fire Island Inlet area. Frustrating fishing year so far.

skunked again today. (backbay) Tobay worker said Debs is great right now. He also said the weaks came in 4 weeks early but should return, and that everything else (fluke in my area) is late. But I don't travel for a fish, lol. Just got out of the water before the squall hit here. Whew !

just came back from fort tilden, rockaways, since sun ☀️ up, bait and clam and gulp… nothing,, horribly flat like that fat moon… yuck.. a lot of bait steelers whatever they were…
other fisherman gone after 2 hours…

remarkable fragrance from the honey suckle & wildflowers, worth every effort getting up at 4:00 am,.. the fire haze continues…

it’s a blessing to be alive… thank you ? JESUS…
