Here's One I've Never Seen Before - Pitzen Knot

Looks faster to tie than an Improved Clinch:

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering why no fishing reports from me yet - I'm having a lot of trouble with my knees, which has slowed my usual Spring boat prep and minor repairs. Up and down the ladder 20 times a day has not been fun. Despite that we're just about ready to go. Mechanical maintenance, repairs, waxon/waxoff and bottom prep/painting are now complete. Some minor stuff to finish and she can go swimming. Sort of on schedule, I guess. Not bad for a beat-up old guy.

Lep btw, sorry to hear bout ya knees, i’m 67 now and feeling it too… Before i head out cycling or long distance walking, i slip this model on both knees… it’s very helpful in addition to some natural meds for mobility, cost a bit, but $$$…i’m feeling good, a blessing… cellie…

Cellie - yes it does look to be a Hangman's noose, now that you mention it. I still think it would be a good choice in certain apps. The Palomar and Improved Clinch have always been my go to's, but this season I'll give this one a try as well.

And thank you for the kind advice and the specific naturals you've found to give relief. I'll be researching those today. I already take Glucosamine/Chondroitin, Turmeric and Fish Oil for this problem, but now it may be getting passed the supplements stage I think. Having had the menisci in both knees shaved over the past 9 or so years, plus Synvisc and Orthovisc knee injections, I feel its time to visit my local Ortho to see if I need a fresh refill of one of those two goops to give me some relief. My wife had a full knee replacement this past Winter and I'd really like to avoid that nastiness, if at all possible. Anyway, thanks for the thoughtful post - very much appreciated!

Lep good deal, later on i’ll do a short vid of a unnamed knot of my own doing , as i found only one other fellow with an illustration on a cellie knot…

btw, me think all knot tying is the least time consuming task of fishing, seconds perhaps… cellfish…

I certainly agree, until the need for an FG knot came along. I can do that knot in a couple of minutes (most of the time, IF I can remember how many over and unders I've done), but I've gone completely over to the PR Bobbin knot, now that I have learned it.

These newer "Chinese Finger-type" knots, that use the braid main line to grip the mono or fluoro leader are
pretty much necessary when using a rod that carries micro or semi-micro conventional guides - like about 95% of the slow pitch jigging rods out there. Since I now have several of those, I had to learn the PR Bobbin. This type of rod is so much fun to use, given the feather-light weight and sweet moderate action that they feature, that I really no longer care to use much else, if at all possible.

A Uni/Uni, Alberto, Yucatan and the like will clang and hang-up in the tiny guides at the worst possible times. This can cost a guide ring and/or a nice fish if the knot jams in the tip's frame. Believe me I know from this.

Still, its no easy trick to tie an FG or PR Bobbin on the boat, that's for sure.
