Need a reel spooled with new braid.

Never had a problem with Trophy Tackle in West Babylon or Saltwaters in West Islip.

They get it right. Between them it is approximately 15 reels a year.

since I am part Scot... what is wrong with DIY ? Once I make some long casts off the beach, or have a blue take my fluke rig on a long run, what difference did how it was spooled make ?

Nothing wrong with DIY as long as it’s done correctly. Using your own example of a Bluefish taking a long run as a way to straighten out the line so to speak will not necessarily work out that way. The line may “bite” into the spooled line, and that can easily result in a lost fish, jammed up reel, mixed in with lots of profanity.

As mentioned Trophy & Causeway can do you are looking for, and more,
correctly. I think you mentioned you would prefer Suffolk County, that’s Trophy. John and the boys there have spooled quite a few for me using JB hollow core braid with loop-to-loop connections. Trick stuff. That’s not what you need just letting you know the level of knowledge they have. They specialize in both inshore and offshore, whereas Causeway specializes primarily on inshore fishing.

What i was attempting to say was that whether its spooled by me or by pros once it was cast 60 yds and then a fish on a run takes it out another 20 , once its reeled back in what difference did the spooling make on those 80 yds, especially since at least in my case the next 80 yds will likely stay virgin, no?

Several problems could arise. The one I was referring to may happen when the reel is engaged, and drag is being applied. This is when the line may bite into itself and result in a cluster-F.
That aside, for myself, I believe in the old saying……. anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Would that example be more common if aforementioned fish gets into that aforementioned “virgin” 80 yds but less likely on “close in” line that has been let out or cast and retrieved multiple times?
