Launched yesterday and with rain and gale force winds forecasted for the next few days there was NFW I wasn't fishing this AM. Best bet was cod on my inshore bumps and I wasn't disappointed, as the machine lit up at my first, and only stop. Did a C&R jigging session with a total of 13 cod, 11-25", monster shown below, and 2 small pollock. On the way back into the river it's apparent that the alewives are stacking up too, so bass won't be too far behind...

Way to go, Roccus. Even though these fish did not have stripes, it is always great to get the first scales of the season on the boat!
One question, is Cod closed to you recreationally? I thought you could take one fish. Looked like some tasty eats to me!

Way to go, Roccus. Even though these fish did not have stripes, it is always great to get the first scales of the season on the boat!We get two, very short seasons, 1 fish per day @ 22", for each starting with April 1-14 when NOBODY has a boat in the water. Thank you NOAA. How about a December through March striped bass season in the EEZ?? In the fall we get a "fishable" season of Sept 1 - Oct 7, same 1, 22" fish per angler per day.

Won't start poking around for bass until mid-May. Normally the earliest they post is May 19th, but the alewives are about 2 weeks early this year, and the earlier than normal reports from LI and my brother in RI might mean I start tossing a plug later next week.

Yikes, that April season is ridiculous. For that matter with a one fish bag limit, do they really need any closures?
Again, my understanding may be wrong, but I just saw a group of guys on a Haddock charter out of NH and I believe they are allowed one Cod per day.
Looks like you need a scorecard and computer with a spreadsheet to keep track of all the regulations these days!!!
