morning Matty. happy new year I have AC on the pursuit. no generator so I only run it when im plugged in. it really is a nice option when we sleep on the boat while tied up in a marina. I've never tried to run it with a generator but it really doesn't draw as much as you would think so the portable generator would probably work
Morning Mike, and Happy New Year to you, and Mep.
I’m just beginning to look at this, and weigh my options. I would like to avoid the expense, and weight of an on-board generator. Unlike you, I may be doing some overnights on the hook, not at a marina that has electricity connection. Fair Harbor as an example is a place we go to, and would face that situation.
Another possible solution would be an inverter. I have an Xantrex 1750 Inverter, and as reported on the survey batteries are as follows……..
2- Interstate 12V, deep cycle, group SRM-4D
1 - Optima 12V, AGM, group 34
Age and condition unknown.
In the Spring I have to take a look at the batteries and decide if they need replacement. I don’t know too much about inverters, but I don’t think 1750 will provide enough output. I need to look at the bigger picture of the inverter, and batteries. I may need to replace all of that. Anyway I look at this with the exception of the portable unit, I can see it as another……“goodbye $10k”……. but hello nice cool air.
Would appreciate speaking with you again in the Spring when the weather warms up. It’s 16 degrees up here right now. We are heading back down to Sunny Florida tomorrow morning will be back sometime in April.
