Fluke in OC

Saw a report from an Ocean City MD site and they mentioned someone actually tried for fluke this past week and caught 2 in 51degree bay water. I'm not familiar with fluking in the Chesapeake or Ocean City area but think that this is a good sign for our upcoming season. I've always targeted fluke early may (and got laughed at by some) and had a lot of success. I recall as a kid occasionally catching a few shorts in Reynolds Channel while flounder fishing in April.....Anxiously awaiting our season opener.

I can recall back in the day of Nor'east Saltwater, you knew two things would happen in early May, the biggest fluke of the season and the first 50-pound bass. It was like clockwork.

It was like clockwork. But they've also gone the way of other cherished harbingers, St. Patty's Day Flounder in the Quogue Canal, April Mackerel in the Sound, etc...

Have an old fishing buddy who now lives in that area.
He caught two fluke yesterday
22 and 23 inches.
He's a former Long Islander
