Yes, I am jumping the gun a little but the first day of the year in the marina is always a momentous occasion.

I enjoyed the fine early spring weather today, took the boat out of hibernation, and began the lengthy process of getting her ready to fish once again in about a month. At this point even just getting the shrink wrap off is a big deal! I know she is far from looking pretty yet but it still feels good.

And for those who just need to satisfy the urge to see more fish pictures I have some good news. After a going about 8 months with my website down it has finally been restored and lookig better than ever. There are still a few more creative touches we will be adding in the near future, but it is fully functional and chock full of shots from last season and many years gone by.

So, if you have to scratch that itch why not visit www.captainstablecharters.com and let me know what you think.

Soon enough we will have plenty new content to be adding to the gallery pages. I can't wait!!

Best of luck on a successful season.

I succumbed to the Dark Side this year. Dropped the boat off at a shipyard with a Honey Dew list. My personal schedule precludes me from working on her before my desired launch date of April 20. I ran the plan past the "Minister of Sociality and Finance" and reminded her she often asks me why I, and not the boat yard, does all that work every year. She had to agree with the plan.

Every once in a while it's good to play that ace in the hole...

Very smart move, Roccus. I wish I could play that card too!

In all honesty there are some big jobs I do pay the yard to handle like painting the bottom and waxing the hull up to the rub rail. Above that it is all on my shoulders/back so you can bet I will be keeping the Ibuprofen manufacturers in business again this year!

I guess the big plus for me since retiring 7 years ago, is I can take my time and try to space tings out throughout the month of April.

Ditto for me, I always have them paint the bottom.

The hull waxing is the only "new" job I'll have them do. I figure I can handle the interior cleaning/waxing at the dock at my leisure and level of concern, ibuprofen supplies allowing.

Hey Mike-
If something out of the ordinary pops up and you need a second set of hands on one of those projects you take on yourself, I'm sure I could make myself available to lend that 2nd set of hands!! 👍😎

BTW, I like the new logo. I do trademark law, so if you ever want to discuss the pros and cons of a trademark registration for your charter business, just let me know.

Thanks very much for the offer, Matts. I never thought about someone actually trying to "steal" my logo!

Actually, it is not new but the original one I started with when I bought the Albin 20 years ago. It is actually a stock photo image that pairs well with the boat name and appears on the stern.

When I first joined the great group of anglers on NY Angler I used a basic photo of the boat as my avatar. I just switched to the fish logo with the rebirth of my website for utilitarian purposes. Since I now have a live link between my website and the NY Angler fishing reports section, I needed a mechanism for folks to be able to find my reports among the many posts that appear here. So, the most logical way to do that was to ask folks visiting my site to look for the North Fork Area reports and then paired it with the visual of the fish logo. Hopefully it will do the trick.

Have a great season!

Took full advantage of the week of summer like weather and really busted my butt. I spent 3 days at the marina and 2 days cleaning up my yard at home. Thank God it's raining now as I need the rest badly!

On the positive side, for you Procol Harum fans out there, the boat is ready to "Shine on Brightly"!! Yard almost finished painting the bottom yesterday and I completed most of my top side chores including waxing, bright work, rub rail, and other associated clean up items. A bunch more smaller items still on the list but most below deck so I will be ready for launch sometime next week.!

Watch out fish, I will be on your trail soon! 😀ctlaunch41423.webpctstern41423.webp
