Headed out the morning for Hubbards state park got to the check station and only a few guys a lot different then the DEC hunting they get you in and out fast we got to our area before daylight and got ready to head in the three of us parted our ways after about a hour saw movement and no joke coming through the brush was a small doe or should I say fawn thought for a minute it was a cat anyway came within 20 yds just couldn’t do it way to tiny on top of the fact 20 gauge on something that small she was lucky to be 30 lbs and then you shoot her that close now she’s 25 lbs? Anthony saw three doe but they winded him and snorted at him and took off pj nothing heard a shot from the group next to us and low and behold shot the baby not sure why but each there own I couldn’t do it the rain started to pick up and thank god wasn’t cold as I put my glove over my scope. We called it a day when rain got heavy. Gonna pheasant hunt next weekend until then stay well my friends

No doubt I had a friend on shelter Island on there thin the herd hunt and he shot a few doe but real small they did manage a nice 8 pointer in his group, another guy my friend knows was also there and he managed a spike but said on the one day he saw over twenty really small doe/fawns whatever you want to say they were but he said he just couldn’t shoot knowing that’s what you’re there for but seeing pictures of some of the other ones shot veal cutlets no doubt
