Saw the forecast for a perfect drift with North wind and falling tide for this morning so I told my boss I'm taking the morning off. Had instant action from the 1st drift. Got a bunch of shorts and 2 nice 'twin" keepers just over 19" but nice and fat. The tide died and the bite shut right down. Didn't have time to wait around for the tide to change so headed back to the dock and back to work. Way to go, Mitch.
After our conversation planning a Tog trip I went back out to the Sound and once again slammed the Sea Bass. Easy limit in an hour all by myself, nice and quiet for a change!🙂

That’s awesome Mike!!
Sea Bass in my area has been challenging lately
I might be available for a last minute sea bass trip on a day like that?

Hi Mitch, I will keep that in mind once the current weather pattern settles down.

NJ Fluking ends on Tuesday and my buddy found a window of opportunity for us to get out on Wed.. Looking at logs from last few seasons we knew they'd be staging off shore at The Farms. We hit them good in 90 foot depths and repeated the short drifts for a quick 4 man limit. Nothing huge but even our NJ slot fish were fatties.
It was a good season here in NJ, even when tossing back 18" overs looking for 17-18" slots. The slot fluke definitely helped our party boats this year, kids eat fish when they can keep and cook their own!
