Some brisk winds curtailed my last 2 planned Montauk charters but we finally caught a break this past Saturday. The 4-man crew was aboard to celebrate Chip’s 50th birthday and things went quite well. First, we had beautiful conditions on the south side of Montauk and next the Fluke were present in large numbers and quite hungry. Spent the entire day on a productive drift at Frisbees and the group did their jobs well, limiting the boat with nice Fluke to 5.5# The Sea Bass bite was a little off but they still managed to box 4 nice biscuits.

Sunday found the Mike party and friends begin their half day morning trip battling the “tough as nails” Bluefish in the Gut. Once everyone’s arms were sore and the tide slacked off a bit, we moved around to the north side of Plum Found the Sea Bass bite very steady. Following a lot of sorting the group was able to put 7 nice keepers in the box up to 3# for 90 minutes effort. One unusual visitor was a plump 4# Blackfish that actually took a squid bait and was quickly returned. Boy was he lost!!

Due to the number of reschedules I have a couple of spots open this coming Sunday 8/7 for a Montauk Fluke trip. The bite is definitely on so now’s a great time to cash in. All you need to do is call.
