I was planning on a relaxing day with my here daughter and friend. They wanted to take a cruise around and maybe pull up to a beach somewhere and chill. As I was getting ready to leave I figured I'd better bring a setup in case I came across anything. Not to mention I had no interest in "chilling." I grabbed a few rods, one was all rigged to go for fluke. Word had it they were gone, but I'm not a big porgy guy.

I get out in 18-20! of water outside the first pavilion at Sunken Meadow. The girls were chatting so I grabbed the rig set for fluke but my choice of Gulp was thin. Luckily I had a 4-inch green and a 4-inch white Gulp tub on the boat. I didn't have the bait in the water for 1 minute and bang two shorts, heartbreakers 1/4 inch shy. Now everything turns to mayhem as I see bait everywhere. Now I have to rig up 3 poles fast, and I was like a mate for the rest of the day.

Literally, we caught over 30-fluke, but only 3 were keepers. There were a few that were a friggin 1/8-inch shy. But between all of the robbins and fluke and a few tangles here and there, it was action all day long. I did manage to get in a few innings and I had a lot fish 17-18 inches. I did get one of the keepers that was 21 inches. If I can get out of this afternoon's meeting I'm going back!

Also, NYSDEC was out in from of the Nissey checking and boarding boats.
