7:00 this morning at fort Tilden, flat calm.. didn’t expect much at least the sharks are moving on, robins starting to come in… ran over to Beeezy Point with incoming.. , still slow but had a strong run off wit clam, while this other surf man 50 yards away was into a good fish on a smaller outfit.. he was actually fishing small hooks for robins….

he comes up a 34” bass, wit a 4oz. pyramid dangling from its mouth.. his small hook actually grab the line tied to the lead,,, this fish had to be carrying that lead for awhile, it was worn down… WoW…

found a sturgeon too, park ranger appreciated the tip…

meanwhile, the amount of plastic and junk washed up around breezy point is disgraceful… our local officials are pathetic… cellfish…

That's a short nose sturgeon...

Believe it or not, one night fishing off of Sound Beach, many, many moons ago, the Rebel swimming plug I was fishing snagged the eye on a pyramid sinker with an attached flounder hook that was in the mouth of an 8 lb striper. That fish had been carrying that load so long there was a grove in its back. No bleeding, just a narrow gulley in the muscle. No impact whatsoever on the taste of that striper...

Nothing wrong with it, just had a grove in him, which was totally scaled and the skin was intact and "normal", there were no lesions or anything.

I'll have to see if I can find a picture of it...

thanks Jack, the ranger said they know of another dried up not far away… but if I didn’t point it out to her ,like every one else she would of walked by… it was brought back to office…

I had to be blunt wit her, many peeps wouldn’t know it’s a heads up fish… ya need to get more report signs up… ( park peeps are terrible managers ) sanitation too..

i notice 2 before, 2 years ago, one on beach, one floating near Battery Park…

it would be interesting to know how they died, pollution or by catch… sadly… cellfish…
