Fished with buddies John and Dan on Saturday targeting back bay fluke. ENE breeze at 5kts, beginning of the outgoing. Water was clean, not much weed to speak of. 3 shorts in the first creek with 2 robins to cut up for bait. Bucktails and gulf were on the menu. Decided to grab some spearing before heading to our next location. Second creek.....not a touch. Really surprised, it's usually a good early season location. Took a short ride and tried another creek to the West.....1 short. Steamed a little further to catch the beginning of the outgoing in this area. Wind shifted due East, same 5kts...Held us up from drifting. Power drifted and managed a few more shorts, then a keeper just over 18.5". Finally broke the ice ! Current started to run good and concentrated on a drop off with a mussel and sponge bed......bingo. Small area of all nice fish with a few just short fish in the mix. We managed 6 keepers for the day, 5 of which were between 19.5 and 24".
Great day on the water with good friends.....It doesn't get any better than that !
