I have at least another 2 weeks for Stripers to show up in my backyard, but I need to get the "cobwebs" out of the boat so I headed out to my nearest inshore cod humps this AM. Was pleased to see the sounder light up as soon as I hit my first range and had a good 1 hour bite of cod and small pollocks, boating 1/2 dozen of each. I'm spoiled rotten in that I can be on cod within 5 nmi of my dock...

The pols were too small to make any "sangweeches" so they went back, and cod are not in season, so they went back too. Wasn't too painful in that none of them were bigger than 21", my boat limit for cod. Anything smaller isn't worth filleting.

Regardless it was nice for this jerk to feel a jerk on the other end of the line. Will probably be out every day wind allowing until things with stripes show up...

Cod & pollock double...

Always a good feeling to get the first "scales" on the deck each new season.
Hang in there Roccus, the Bass will be swimming in your direction soon!
