Took the pup down to Robert Moses the morning. Was well after 10 o’clock and from field 2 down to field 5 the deer were all over feeding. From Doe with yearlings up to a beautiful 10 pointer. There were spikes 8 pointer was crazy how many were out. Beautiful morning.

Is there any hunting there ? Drove down that loop many times over the years. I wonder if there are Turkey there ? They could easily have a Shotgun Season there for Deer if they stopped people going over the bridge during weekdays. Just allow the Coast Guard and State Workers .

There is no hunting there. But I believe the State does do some kind of control on them.

Yes, rather than charge a nominal fee to us peasants, the gubmint hires sharpshooters to bait them and jacklight them and allegedly donates the venison to the poor although some have reported seeing carcases rotting. At least its a little better than the poisoning done to deer at Connetquot.

💯 correct makes you wonder. No reason not to have a shotgun hunt just like they do on the rest of island. Connetquot could easily host 8 to 10 hunters and do it for like five days. Wonder how many of those big bucks are hanging in there own garage.

I was at Caumsett Park two weeks ago and saw loads of doe, plus a beautiful 10 pointer, but none of my iPhone photos came out that well after I scrambled to take off my gloves and pull my phone out of my pocket.

Beautiful morning down at Robert Moses Beach. Wind is blowing the inlet and ocean is rolling pretty good with steady white caps. A few nice bucks out feeding the morning with plenty of Doe and yearlings roaming around.IMG_5350.webpIMG_5347.webpIMG_5344.webpIMG_5342.webpIMG_5340.webp

If they ever bring back deer hunting to Fire Island again, you won’t need a gun, or a bow. I rent a house in the Town of Fair Harbor for a week or two every year, and can can tell you what is probably the easiest, and least expensive way to hunt them. Invest in a small bunch or carrots or other such vegetable. When you see a deer, just wave your veggies, and they will come over to you. As your hand feeding them use your other hand to slit their throats.
