Bill has been around the block at least once already. Limited to slugs on my nuisance permit, as well as during the January Long Island shotgun season, and I only use copper solid sabot rounds now. Waterfowling, which I don't do, is of course steel shot only. its the guys who don't do archery and go after Bambi with rifles upstate that could get screwed.

Field hunting game birds on LI will also have to resort to non-lead too, as well as varmint popping with .22.

Wait for shooting ranges to lose ability to fire lead...

Yeah, that too. I gave up on the pheasant or turkey hunting/ gave it a try back around 2004 for a few years .and rarely saw any. No .22LR or any rifle for that matter on Long Island. I am not inclined to make trips upstate for hunting anymore.
The shooting ranges is a definite concern. It would even stop me from using my Beeman air rifle !

Next is fishing sinkers, lead heads, and split shots.

In fresh water here they're banned:

Lead Sinkers The sale and use of lead sinkers not meeting the length (2.5 inches) and/or weight (1 ounce) requirements is prohibited.

If a lead sinker is over 2.5 inches in length or it weighs over 1 ounce or both it is legal to use and sell or offer for sale. If a sinker contains ANY amount of lead, it will be considered illegal if it doesn’t meet the length and weight requirements.

The Department will interpret the definition of lead sinker to include any tackle that is permanently manufactured to the lead itself. When measuring for a minimum of 2.5 inches, the manufactured tackle will be included in the measurement. This will not include any additional items that have been added to the original manufacturing device.

Please read the manufacturer’s label carefully to determine the weight of the lead sinker. If the lead is manufactured as part of other fishing tackle, the entire piece of equipment needs to be more than 1 ounce in weight. The definition of a lead sinker DOES NOT include artificial lures, weighted line, weighted flies or jig heads.

Bare Lead Jigs

As of September 2016 the sale of bare lead jigs not meeting the length (2.5 inches) and/or weight (1 ounce) requirements is prohibited.

NOTE: Effective September 2017, the use of bare lead jigs not meeting the length (2.5 inches) and/or weight (1 ounce) requirements will be prohibited.

Yeah, in Nueva Yawk too, although of course with different weights, descriptions etc. but definitely lead sinkers less than an ounce. For clam bellying, which I will no longer do, I bought up a bunch of rubber core sinkers and had split shot left over from my freshwater carp days. all of my lead head jigs for weaks and fluke are fully dressed with bucktail and plastic skirts. (almost all are under one ounce) the entire Northeast and the left coast are the land of no.

So if I shoot a fish, the bullet will have to weigh an ounce or be 2.5 in. long?
