My friend George, our somewhat humble host here on NYAngler was recently on a quest for a new pair of pliers. The pretty blue-anodized pair that I picked up at Trophy Tackle for the princely sum of $12 drew little interest from George. Nope, REE-jected!
But now, EVERYTHING'S CHANGED! I've finally found a pair of pliers that George will go GA-GA over! Behold the game-changing Danco skeletonized whatevers - (and only $699!). Score!
Danco says they're a "Game Changer." What game would that happen to be?
Anyway, the serious stuff starts at 3:05 of the video:
This One's For George!

And here's Danco's Home Page. Damn, too late to get a pair for my buddy Capt. Mike's Xmas gift. Oh well, there's always next year. . . :

$700 for a pair of pliers!!!!!!!!!!! Probably half the cost came from their high tech video announcement.
You have to be insane. I wouldn't pay that much for them if they were solid gold and diamond encrusted!
Forget about keeping them on a leash. If you buy these, you better handcuff them to your wrist!
You are correct, Lep...perfect for George! 🤣

Gee, and I thought the Low Spark of Van Stahl Boys were nuts paying $300 for a pair of titanium pliers. This puts a new meaning to "A fool and his money are soon parted".
I'll stick to my Ace Hardware $8 regular needle nose, and my $11 eleven inch long needle nose. When one of those fulfills exerting it's potential energy, i.e. goes over the side, I just say, "oh shit, oh dear" and pull out another one...

This puts a new meaning to "A fool and his money are soon parted".Related to the comments from Roccus and Benny, I have a favorite pair of scissors I use to cut crabs for Tog fishing which I just know are going over the side soon. However, this past season a customer came aboard with these cheap Chinese shears that I have to admit were as good as, if not better than, my coveted special scissors.

Knowing the fate of most good fishing tools I went to the shop the customer recommended and saw these cheap sheers were only $4 each. I immediately bought 4 pairs knowing that more than one will probably go for a swim soon enough! 😀

Dropping fishing tools, sunglasses, etc overboard is inevitable and sucks every time it happens?♂️
Dropping somebody else’s stuff is downright embarrassing and sucks even more
I’m thinking next year when I go out on other peoples boats or say a North Fork tog trip, I’m gonna be extra sure not to use or borrow anything worth more than $4??

Dropping fishing tools, sunglasses, etc overboard is inevitable and sucks every time it happens?♂️All a matter of Potential Energy and the Law of Physics that states all objects will eventually get to a state of their lowest potential energy, which in our case, happens to mean going to visit the crabs & clams...

Pete, I think you need to get a pair of those pink pliers that are on the wall behind the guy. Pairs nicely with the pink rod and reel you have. I'm sure there's a certain Capt on here that would love that on his boat ??

I can do one better and stash a pair on his boat without telling him. Similar to putting a banana aboard. 😛

I like this: "When one of those fulfills exerting it's potential energy, i.e. goes over the side, I just say, "oh shit, oh dear" and pull out another one.."
I usually say, "Eff-em, I didn't like 'em anyway."
Sort of a fisherman's version of Sour Grapes, I guess.

In all honesty, I have no idea when that tool did its own version of an Olympic dive. All I know is one minute it's there and the next minute gone! We all know that story all too well.

I definitely would have said so if I did and replaced them for you
I was just going along with the conversation and generically saying how extra careful I would be handling somebody else's gear

I was just pulling your leg, Mitch. I know you are a standup guy.
A very Happy New Year to you and the entire family. Lots of good health, music, food, and fish as well!!!

I’ll go against the grain
again
I’m with George
a cheap digital watch keeps great time
But I prefer a fine swiss time piece
a decent 1911 shots well yet I prefer a semi or full house custom
zarconia looks as good as diamond and plated as good as gold
I’ll take the gold and diamonds
so you if the 700.00 pliers hold up and hold value what the hell buy them
