For 2022 the cod season for Georges bank cod will be closed from May 1, to July 31st. The rest of the year it will be open with a bag limit of five fish per man between 22 and 28 inches. In case you didn't know Georges bank cod are all cod south of the 42.20 line all the way south to Cape Hatteras.

Wow, surprised to see it, but it was long in coming, and probably too short in duration, but it's a start. @MakoMike will the States pass this through inshore or will it only be in Federal Waters?

Is this new regulation based on science or just to comply with an outdated Magnuson-Stevens act?

Its intended to be for all waters but the states can refuse to comply. The NEFMC will be contacting all affected states to try and get them to comply, but most of the fishing from RI south is done in federal waters anyway.

Well.......at least the late summer/Winter Coxes fishing is still allowed. Just need some to start showing up in a couple of weeks.?
