Had a great day as a walk on with Captain Joey Landis of the Fish Hunter Charters six-pack out of Stamford. Joey is a fantastic fisherman and does his best to do whatever he can to make the trip a great experience. He worked at it all day, bouncing around to all different depths and current conditions and we ended up with a full boat limit.
No need to go all the way to Rhode Island, when there's great fishing closer to home.

blackfish are too big and tasty for tacos. I leave that to porgies. Perfect size and they go better with slaw and spicy mayo. IMO.

Agreed. But a friend of mine sent me over a batch of blackened tog cut into pieces and it was great. Tog also makes some of the best fish cakes!

Here's a great recipe as long as we're on the topic.
Chunk the fillets into 1" cubes.
Coat with milk/sour cream/mayo mixture, then dredge in crumbs.
crisp the sides and transfer to a baking dish and drizzle on sweet asian General Tsao's style sauce and bake for 7-10 min. Man, that was tasty.
BTW, over the weekend I tried DoctorFish's chowder recipe. Really good.

Tog tacos or “Togos” as I refer to them
just cut the fillets in smaller pieces.
They are delicious. AA5E71F0-6DD1-40A3-AF80-A8008FA48CA5.webp2C3E7A34-8FB6-4A0B-9813-BDDE67DAB671.webp
