I was in the city for a conference from Thursday night through Saturday morning and my brother in law texts and asks if I can make a run with him on Saturday morning. Obviously a no - go ! 😡 He ends up going with a friend and they found bass outside Moriches and did a number on them! Complaining they had a hard time finding keepers as they were above the slot! Anyway, they did finally manage to get some slot fish for the table. They went for tog after this and had a bunch but too small to take home.

I ended up going out with him on Sunday morning. It was cold!! Poked around the bay for nothing with plugs and once we could see better, we went outside and looked around. Birds present, marked bait, but no fish. We traveled west down the beach almost to Smith Point. Nothing. So we went back towards the inlet and set up for blackfish.

Once we set up it was lock and load fishing. By the time it was over we were able to put 7 in the cooler for the table. And a bunch of just shy going back. This lasted from 8-10 and we had to run for other obligations. Left them chewing but size went down.

First time using my Shimano Grappler Type LJ with a Vanford 3000 for blackfish. It handled well, first time tog fishing with a spinning reel.

Anyway, good morning out, and had a bunch of laughs!
