Captains Table- New Tog Anglers

As the water temps begin to slowly drop the Tog bite on the North Fork just keeps gaining steam. Had the Don family out today with his wife and 2 young daughters to try their hands at Blackfishing for the first time.

We hit 3 drops for the day and each one had a steady stream of Tog from shorts to plenty of keepers coming over the rail all day long. First stop south of Plum found 13 y/o Sarah put a 17” keeper on the deck within minutes of her bait hitting the bottom. Not wanting to be outdone, her younger sister, 9 y/o Liliana followed quickly with a nice fat 4# Tog. The action continued fast and furious for the next 90 minutes with many shorts but 2 more solid keepers finding the box.

We moved east to finish the day with two drops on the west side of Fishers. First stop found some healthy Sea Bass mixed in with the Tog and Sarah struck again with a beautiful 3.5# biscuit. A couple of more Sea Bass and keeper Tog were landed before moving one last time to the north. Here we finished up limiting the boat with Tog to 5# but dropped 3 much larger fish that literally overpowered the young girls and their Mom, surging for their rocky haunts before they could get the powerful fish headed in the right direction. We hit the dock just around 3:30 p.m. with the family going home with full bags of filet and a promise to join me again for some more hot Blackfish action next season! Always fun getting some new anglers broken into the sport we all love so much on a beautifully calm November day.
