Has anyone fishing the western sound caught any legitimate blackfish yet? I`ve tried a couple of local spots near City Island with only shorts.Maybe the water is too warm still.I have heard of keeper blackfish caught from guys at my marina.I know better. A lot of the gents here are keeping14" fish,hence the slogan"keeper fish".It`s all about the money to some people. MF`s

Togging has been very good so far. Lots of shorts with some nice keepers mixed in when you can get passed the shorties. Started using whole greens on small jigs to keep the bait right on the bottom, and not setting my hook till the jig starts moves.

I went out for blacks yesterday figuring the water temperature had dropped after the blow.The weather was kind of iffy so I stayed local; not expecting much. I stuck it out through dozens of short fish and was finally rewarded with my limit of legit blackfish from 16.5 to 19.5"fishing in 25` jigging greenies.Hopefully it continues.
