Took advantage of a break in my schedule to do a little fishing for my own freezer yesterday. The flood tide in the Gut was loaded with large Blues waiting to jump all over my bucktails. Spent 3 hours of the tide playing catch and release with over 20 Blues in the 5-10# class and also managed to cull one slot sized Bass or 28” from among 4 other shorts. Also had an interesting “tug of war” with a very large Seal determined to eat one of the Blues struggling on my line. Let me tell you looking at one of those beasts face to face boat side is a little unsettling!

Nearly exhausted from the Bluefish workout I did summon enough strength to hit some Sea Bass drops north of Plum on the slack tide. Fish were stacked pretty good and in the brief window, due to the strong Full Moon tide, I managed to put 6 nice biscuits away to 3#. Great eating for a few nights and some for the freezer as well.

This weekend is booked with back-to-back Sea Bass trips along with another mid-week trip for the following week. Yesterday’s results bode well for the anglers coming out to fill their respective freezers! After that it is almost be Tog time!! Can’t wait. Still time to grab an individual weekend date but they are filing fast, so it’s wise to call soon if you cannot fish weekdays.
