Still going

Tried culling through the snappers near the boat ramp and the smallest was 10" so except for a limit of baby blues was not too optimistic. Current had just gone to the outgoing and the north wind still about ten. (Easy paddle to start, not so much returning.) Got to my usual go-to area and went back to using the pink and white bucktail and teaser rig that was retired the last week of July when I started livelining. Knowing there would be different species waiting to ruin my 50 cents a piece Gulp, and me being a piker, I used some 30 year old white curly tail that I had soaking in Gulp juice with real Gulp. Second drift had quite the hit, and not having used my lightweight BG2000 and 6' Tsunami Slimwave for anything but snappers since July, was a bit shocked as the drag whined. Then the fight abruptly stopped and after having lost the only snapper that I could have livelined earlier, I started with the dark thoughts. (Not much sense cursing since there was no one about to entertain.) Then the fish jumped and I was surprised to see those beautiful colors and yellow fins. 22" Not another hit except bait stealers for the next hour and home by 11. For you fellow yakkers, why do the fish being towed home always seem to open their mouths as wide as they can, even when still alive ? With less PCBs and mercury out there, can one eat too much fish? Believe me when I state that I know full well how fortunate I have been this season. OTOH, not a keeper fluke for me since June.
