A friend I met on the high road forum comes home to upstate ny every year for deer season. For this year he mentioned about doing some saltwater fishing, his 11 year old grandson and older brother my go. I was thinking we'll just fish from shore but I don't know any spots in N.Y. I normally fish jersey and Connecticut from boat or shore.
they should be here sometime in October or November, so should be good for blackfish and sea bass. I know of some boats in sheepshead bay but that's about it none on the mainland. Don't want anything to far out to like Montauk unless it's really worth the drive. Small charter would work but think we will only have 4 maybe 5 people at most.
any recommendations would be helpful, or should we just go cheap and find a good spot on shore somewhere.

We have an excellent Captain on these boards, @captmike28, who knows those seas well and is an excellent Captain.

Hi Twf.
While I am often booked on many weekend days, if you have some flexibility most folks that work full time can't break away on the weekdays. So those are easier to book even last minute and frankly often better days to fish with less overall traffic.
And, I wouldn't shy away from the weekends either as many times I am booked one weekend day but not the other.
Just give me a call anytime and we can discuss availability, rates, times, species, etc.
Hope to hear from you down the road.

PS: Thanks for the endorsement, George🙂

Hi Twf.thank you for the response, I actually prefer weekday fishing and I'm sure if we do make a trip it will be during the week. Like I've said I need to talk it over with my friends and see if there up to it and a better timeline when there coming back to ny.

mike how long do you think the drive is from the GW bridge to your boat. Trying to get a idea on driving times.

Of course time of day makes all the difference. I know its a long haul for you but if you decide to make the trip I will do my best to make it worth your while.

Just looked gps says 2.55 minutes from my house, I'm 70 miles from the gw. My dad is a hour North of me and my buddies are just south of Binghamton. So even them the rides not to bad just somewhere we don't go much.
Mike
what time is the best to call, I have some other questions.
thanks again.
