KING FISH, 2021..

No finer dining. 3 or 4 years ago I took one home that had its tail bit off when we were in the middle of a brief bluefish blitz off an open beach. Had forgotten just how good they taste ! Don't think they made it to my backbay area yet as I have had very little in the way of bait stealers and bite offs from blowfish or small snappers as yet (knock wood). However, I did hear rumors of peanuts and tiny snappers and have seen tiny white somethings jump out of the water when I reel in my buck and teaser. In 2 weeks I suspect I might start looking for snappers to liveline although the Gulp has been good so far. What are you using for bait for the kingfish ?

Small skinny squid strips on a small hook like a porgy hook always worked for me..

cutting a 6" pork rind in half and putting it on a 3/0 bucktail dressed teaser hook caught a few of them for me last summer.

We catch them once in awhile in the sound. Never ate one though.

Delicious like sea bass or flounder but imho better

Bunker must of been thick,to bad nothing on them..

I won a pool on a drift boat out of Boyton Beach with a King Fish.

Did not know at the time but that is a highly respected fish in those waters.

Different King Jack, you caught a King Mackerel which get quite large


Cellie's talking about a Northern Kingfish, a couple of lbs is a HUGE one.

btw, there wasn’t any Sea Robins around either, which lets me know the Sharks are in… cellfish…
