I would interrupt “economically feasible” as a good thing in that it says to me the expense should not exceed the result? And “socially just” means to me a fair deal for all the stakeholders?
In any event I think they do tremendous good and wouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

How to resuscitate a sea turtle
This video is geared more towards the commercial fishermen. That said, if you spend enough time offshore you will have some sea turtle encounters. Although I have never encountered a sea turtle in distress, I know some others that have, and helped them out cutting away entanglements, etc. The information contained in this short video prepared by NOAA you may find useful one day.

Every government agency seems to. Even the Post Office has one.I know a postal investigator. They do a lot a good work you wouldn’t believe the amount of mail fraud going on in this country. And they handle many other issues protecting the public.

I'm sure. The IRS has their own police force too. So does the MTA, NYC Transit and NY State Parks. Where does it end? DMV? NYCHA? Weights and Measures?

The DMV has investigators, but not police. I know, we've dealt with the investigators when we had crooked repair shops for customers. Obviously such an investigations requires people with specific knowledge. That's fine.
But must they have a special branch that requires unique training and weapons and all that entails when they need to go in and lock up somebody who's been selling inspection stickers? Or could perhaps a different branch of NYS that already has police powers coordinate and do the dirty work for that event? Somebody, like, ohhhh,.. I don't know.... The New York State Police? Maybe the FBI could be doing the warrants and raids for mail fraud?
I guess I have a different perspective coming from the experience of someone who works with the government instead of for it, or is just looking in from the outside. But it is appalling how people have no idea how much these agencies are no different than corporations. They seek growth and wealth and authority in order to justify their existence and grow their own prestige and power. Meanwhile it's all justified under the banner of the good works they're doing.
Yeah. Bureaucratic saviors. Who's going to save us from them?
I've been kicking around the idea of doing a thread on the concept of professionalism, and how people perceive their role and responsibilities in society and careers. However, this forum probably considers it too off topic. Not to mention how everyone will get their knickers in a bunch when their sacred cow gets gored.

Western Atlantic Provides Refuge for Bluefin Tuna
A 30-year study shows that conservation measures in the western Atlantic have created a vital haven, contributing to the recovery of bluefin tuna.

They want to pat themselves on the back. Meanwhile the recreational bluefin fishery is virtually non-existent and the commercial quota is a small fraction of what other areas are able to harvest.
So let's keep steep restrictions in place so across the Atlantic they can reap the rewards of our sacrifice.
NOAA and ICCAT are a joke. All bark and no bite!
