Boat explosion in Greenport, I'm glad the two are not injured severely. Everyone be careful, don't rush and write down steps for your start up procedures. I assume the Capt did not turn on the blower to vent then bilge of fumes after gassing up or he did what I almost did when I got distracted and put the gas nozzle in the pole holder.

Scary stuff
I had already reached out to a well respected NYA member who is in that marina to confirm he and his boat are OK as well.
Sounds like it could have been a hell of a lot worse and they are lucky to be alive

Not the first and definitely won’t be the last. A lot of inexperienced boat owners out there these days.

Glad they seem to be OK, but AirLifting is big $‘s. Hope for the best. You have to have Your A Game on while re-fueling.

You can never be too careful on the water, particularly when fueling up. And, in addition to running the blowers for a good 5 minutes you should also stick your nose in the bilge, just to be sure! Can't be too safe!!
