Went out this morning 7am with my older son Jay jr, headed over to can 7, ride over was beautiful, like being on a lake.
Arrived at can 7 around 7:50am, 1 boat and by the looks nothing going on.
Got out the gulp and dropped my line over, unfortunately there was no drift, 10 minutes later I catch my first short fluke.
I caught a few more, but I was moving the boat around a lot, around 10 am I decided to move to Port Jeff and off we went.
For those wondering about bunker, there is plenty from can 7 to MIlford Ct.
We found a small fleet fishing can 9 and decided to give it a shot, samething, short fluke, but we caught some really nice cbass to 18 in.
Around 11:30 am the drift started but robins seamed to dominate the grounds, after a hour of catching nothing but birds I made the move back to can 7.
Lots of sand eels at can 7, evident by the short fluke spitting them up after we released them.
I caught a few small cocktail blues along with another 18 in porgy, right now I'm frustrated that there were no keeper fluke today, I hadn't been out for a couple of weeks so I don't
know what went on if anything, I am not going to waste my time running over to L.I.'s Northshore anymore, it's obvious it's just not going to happen.
I am going to run east or trailer my boat up to R.I., I just got done setting up my trailer with 2 spares and did a complete overhaul of the engine, created an emergency repair kit with all parts that have in the past given me problems. Unless I hear different that's my plan, oh, was it hot and muggy today or what lol.
Some pics of my trailer to follow.
Tight lines guys
