The bass have been here, especially around Ponquogue Bridge, if you can time it. It's hit-or-miss if you're not paying attention to the tides.

That said, until this week it was almost exclusively cookie-cutter bass. Now it's bass and blues competing for bait. Guess what: Blues always win. So it's time for some beefy leaders. I was able to get about a dozen small bass each night, but now it's 6 bass and 6 blues. Nothing huge yet for me, but I'm checking nightly for the big boys to arrive from NJ and NYC.

Coming home Saturday three guys surf casting in the east cut 2 were hooked up one had a bluefish on the beach.

I had almost no blues out east last year. I've seen a big increase. DEC was asking me if I'd been seeing more this year. A little conservstion goes a long way.
