Surf experiment

Went out for the first time this season and decided to check out the effectiveness of fishbites and gulp. Hit the surf for the last hour of the incoming and the first two hours of the outgoing tide. Winds were light and the water was flat. Baited a high low rig with clam fishbites and waited patiently for a hit. Unfortunately, there were no takers. Switched to the fishbites bloodworms with the same result. Next came the gulp bloodworms which yielded a plump schoolie. Not many fishermen out and didn’t see anyone connecting with fish. Will repeat this experiment again to see what might happen. All and all is was great to be out again fishing the south shore beaches of Staten Island

Good effort, stu.
I think you'll have better results with the Fishbites when the water warms up. I've had great results with them for porgies, kingfish & croakers.
