The ventilation system, never very effective in the first place, is evidently kaput, or at least non-operational
since Thursday the 17th of December. Since many federal LEOs qualify and familiarize there, I can only hope
that it gets repaired over the holidays. (Besides the golf course, it supposedly is the only Nassau County park that actually nets income.)
Since I have always gotten either a resident military or resident codger discount, I will simply wait it out but for those of you
wanting to introduce a young'un to the sport, the county will issue a tax rebate. (Just don't hold your breath any more than when you go there.)

thanks for the update. Although I have yet to call, I heard the same thing on longislandgunclub.com or longislandfirearms.com. If so, it will be a mob scene (that I avoid) until the schools reopen. As unpopular as the shooting sports are these days, "Red Ryders" under the Christmas tree and kids home always have equated to a long wait this time of year. Maintenance? I was told on December 18th when I called that the ventilation system (inadequate as it was) broke down. Another guy reported that the really big RO there was seen dumping multiple pails of water from a roof leak(s). since besides the golf course its the only county park that makes money I knew it would reopen, especially with the fees they rake in this week.

they did reopen yesterday and are open today, the 27th. Supposed to close at noon on the 31st. I doubt the repairs (if any were actually required in the first place) are or would be a permanent fix. Call 516-572-0420 just before you pack up and go.

Called first as usual and went yesterday. Fired two of the pistols I am going to put up for sale (elsewhere.) Got to use Room 2 which has new LED lighting. Outstanding; wish I had those lights at all of the ranges I shot in as a kid on my high school and college teams. OTOH, being a piker I print out my own targets and found that at certain distances downrange my targets were slightly transparent, the black being a dark grey. I may have to add a sheet of paper behind them LOL.
Regarding the range, no wait, parking lot pretty empty at 1130 in the morning and by the time I was finishing up my hour for four bucks I realized that I was the only one left in Room 2 ! I guess people that did not buy ammo pre-Obummer are feeling the scarcity.

Sent you a PM. Even mentioning this might be against siteowner's wishes. I will be posting full details on the two shooting websites that cater to "long island." Even though SWMBO has a pistol permit I want to "thin the herd" as I am not getting any younger.
