Managed to get out on Sunday and it took some time and a few locations to locate some yellow perch. I had 7 but they were generally small. No pictures. At least they are starting to school up. Hits were aggressive and the jig had to have a twitch. Would not touch if I just floated it along.
Going to look for white perch soon. Will be trying some new spots I scouted.

Thanks for the report, it’s been a few years since I went for white perch. Hope to be able to this winter.

Will definitely have to dress differently, but will probably get out Saturday and Sunday for a bit.

Went out Saturday for a look around. The spots I looked at for yellows were iced up so no go. Looked for brackish water trout and/or whites to no avail. We decided to close the office for Christmas Eve, so I will be out in the morning.

Poked around a few bodies of fresh water yesterday for 1 decent perch and 3 smaller ones. No rhyme or reason for the bite. One was caught very close to the surface and the others deeper with varying speeds and twitches. Did not hit any salty spots. Maybe this week.

Are you catching them in fresh or brackish water? Never tried it before.

The yellow perch are coming from fresh water. White perch usually come from brackish.

I cannot believe how fast the past 3 weeks have gone! I look at the forecast and the likelihood I go out over the weekend dwindles. Going to be hard to find open water where I like to fish. And even if I pushed out the puddle boat (Tracker 1448) , just way too cold in the wind.

I just finished my work for the past year. Now I can get out and fish and we get this weather. I guess I will have to go for Cod.

Even though I am not a fan of the cold anymore, I would like to go again, just cannot give up the two days. One to fish...................and the other to recover! 🙂

MTB,

Did not know freshwater fishing made you all giddy. Let me know, I would not mind assisting you with fishing the fresh. Glad to see such enthusiasm towards the sport. Please continue to follow, and I will teach.
