Got out early & checked the lights on the trailer as it was still dark. Got about 5 miles of 55 MPH road to travel, take a look in the mirror, one of the lights on top of the PVC guide posts flopping around hanging by the wires, what the hell, I know I didn't hit anything stop & the PVC fixture is broken off, cut the wires not to loose the light & continue get to the ramp parking lot & find a dead sea gull in the boat, stupid thing flew into the PVC post. Planned on heading to Montauk to scare up a bass, but the north east wind made conditions too rough, turned back & set up on the lee side of one of the islands to blackfish, all I had with me were previously frozen green crabs, which usually thaw soft & not very good, a few pecks from smaller fish & they get ripped from the hook. Finally get a solid bite & put a fish on ice a little over 16". Get out the light spinning rod & 1 oz jig & get another solid hit, can't stop the fish & he made it back down to his cave, & I'm stuck can't move the fish. Decided to ease up on the pressure, put the rod in a rod holder & have lunch. Sure enough after 5 minutes the fish swam out & I netted a fish a little over 19" & 7 pounds. Time to call it a trip & take a slow ride back to the launch ramp.
